Easy rock fishing trip shun
Location: Shirahama Island, Sakurajima
Date and time: 11 21 (12:00-17:00)
Middle tide low 14:09 - high 19:41
This time I went fishing for sea bream at a convenient rocky shore in Sakurajima.
Fishing is prohibited in most of Sakurajima's refuge ports, but it is allowed on the rocky shore.
I headed towards Kurokami and finally found the rocky shore. It was exciting to be in a new place for the first time!
The water is shallow but there is a good current. Mirrors and bubbles form, making for a great atmosphere! It's already 12 o'clock, so I'm ready to start preparing the bait.
The bait is a blend of "G-MAX" and "Great Gure" for targeting upper to middle layers, with "White Power Plus 2" added to adjust the hardness. Its container has a zipper so you can store any unused portion.
The bait is "MSW Gray"
I started with the rig which uses 1.7mm main line, 1.5mm leader, G5 float, and No. 6 grey hook.
When I scattered the bait, I saw small black porgy, damselfish, and blue-barred parrotfish at the bottom.
I started fishing with full float and in about 3 rods depth I started catching blue-barred parrotfish and black porgy.

After 2pm the headwind gradually got stronger and the rig started to lose its grip, so I changed to a G2 semi-floating rig with the float 2 rods below the rig.
Then a small greenfish bite!
Finally I got to see the greenfish's face.
But then the bait is taken...
Is the feeding depth shallower? I attached a toothpick to the float and fixed it at a rod length.
This was the correct answer
The slowly sinking float accelerates!
I got a 29cm grey porgy
I put a lot of ground bait for the small greenfish in front and a small amount of ground bait for the main target out in the open.
This allowed me to catch a few decent sized sea bream.
I fixed the depth at 1 rod added to an arm length
At dusk, there was a strong bite, but unfortunately it was a miss...and I called it a day.
It was a fishing spot with great potential...
I'll go for revenge next time
