Aiming for black porgy and horse mackerel at Oiri Island Takahashi
Great fishing buddy!
Today, to celebrate the return of a fishing friend, we enjoyed a return fishing trip the following day, starting with a celebration the night before.
The weather was blustery with strong winds blowing from the north, but for safety reasons we decided to go fishing for black porgy and horse mackerel at Oiri Island in Saiki City.
We boarded the 6:30 AM boat (Ninseimaru) and it was extremely noisy with five other people from the early morning.
After arriving at the fishing spot, we headed to the spot we had chosen in rock-paper-scissors.
Today's bait is a combination of "2 blocks of krill, Soko-zeme zudon, Nama-sanagi kurodai, and Seiha chinu."
Although I was aiming for black porgy, I actually wanted to catch horse mackerel, so I used krill as my main bait for the day.
We slowly get ready and start fishing just after 7am.
The bait-eating fish, such as small red sea bream, pufferfish, and filefish, are highly active from the morning and the bait doesn't remain.
As the bait started to work, the silver sea bream became very active and were caught one after another. At 11am when the tide changed, we caught the horse mackerel we were aiming for, which was over 35cm, but it was only a single catch.
After that, we caught two black porgy, our main target, and at the same time, we also caught some silver sea bream, and then some more black porgy and yellowtail, both about 30cm long, and then the fishing ended as the bites became less and less frequent.
We continued fishing until 14:30 when it was time to stop fishing, but time ran out. We didn't catch any large black porgy, but when it was all over, everyone had caught something and it had been a fun day.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
