On July 20th, I went fishing at the Hikiyama River diversion bank in Aira City, aiming for black porgy. Taking heatstroke into consideration, I only put my rod out for 2-3 hours.
"Maybe today will be the day when an ageless one comes," I thought, hoping, and got excited about getting ready.

Once the bait is just right, I cast about 30 cups to create a good spot. I set up the float, line, and hook, and cast another 30 cups of bait into the spot.
At 6 AM, I took a break and hydrated before starting my fishing. After a quick run, I noticed that the rig wasn't working properly, so I changed the float from #00 to #000.
Then I changed the float and caught a cute frog flounder on the first cast. It seemed the bait had reached the black porgy layer, and when I continued to aim, a frog flounder of the same size took the bait.
So, in order to avoid the frog flounder, I decided to cast the rig upstream or downstream from the point where I cast the bait, to shift the bait and the rig.
This strategy was successful, and although they were small, I caught a few black porgy about 30cm in size. After a while, a light rain started to fall, which was a pleasant relief for my sweaty body.
There were times when the current was slow and the black porgy's appetite was reduced, but I rotated the bait and looked for something that would get a bite. However, I caught some cute-sized frog flounder and red sea bream.
As the tide went out, I moved my fishing spot to the tetrapods. I caught a black porgy and fought with it, but it got stuck in the gaps in the tetrapods at my feet and I lost it three times. The lively black porgy in summer is super powerful.
Meanwhile, the light rain turned into a downpour... The fish continued to bite, but then there was a rumbling sound like thunder in the distance... At 6 AM, I decided to call it a day for safety reasons.
Although I wasn't able to catch an ageless fish, there were plenty of fish to play with and it was a fun fishing trip.
