"Rainy Season Sea Bream in Kagoshima: Noma" by Kamikihara

On June 13th, I went fishing for sea bream in Noma during the rainy season with my friend Kawabata.

About 15 minutes after departure, we were dropped off at a shallow reef called Bisha, where submerged rocks were scattered.

This time, I used 1.5 blocks of krill, half a block of boiled bait, along with Bakuhi Master Gure, Gure Z, Great Gure, and GMAX Middle for one day's worth. White Power Plus II was kept in reserve for emergency adjustments.

For the bait, I used raw shrimp, specifically the "Nama Iki-kun PRO L," along with pickled shrimp and boiled shrimp as chum.

We mixed our bait together and prepared our gear slowly, chatting and laughing, before starting to fish a little after 7 a.m.

I set up my fishing spot by the boat landing, and Kawabata-san set up his facing south. We were both fishing when we got a welcome rush of fusiliers from early in the morning. We managed to catch several fish about 35cm long to take home.

The Gurukun fish dive right up to the edge of the reef, and they're a good size, so I often mistook them for sea bream. They really put up a good fight.

Kawabata-san was catching sea bream one after another, getting off to a very promising start.

Mr. Kawabata kindly invited me to fish with him, saying, "There are some sea bream here, let's go fishing together," and I was able to cast my line alongside him.

Thanks to Mr. Kawabata's consideration, I was able to catch a good number of sea bream.

We both enjoyed an exciting time as we were both overwhelmed by giant fish that we couldn't understand, our floats were knocked over, and our leaders were snapped as they dove into the submerged rocks.

There were some difficult times when the activity of the sea bream decreased, but through trial and error, we were able to catch a few more.

Both of our fishing rods bent quite a bit, and we had a valuable time experiencing both the joy and the challenges of fishing in the same day.

The water temperature in Kagoshima has risen considerably, and depending on the location, there are now many more fish nibbling at the bait.

Even so, it looks like we can still enjoy fishing for sea bream during the rainy season for a little while longer.
