Avoiding the small sea bream and catching a string of good-sized ones! Conquering 45-48cm sea bream in Goto - Yamada

My work has finally calmed down... so I went fishing in Goto for the first time in a while.

When I cast a mixture of krill, Gure Zero, Great Gure, and Bakutobi as chum near my feet, just as the captain had warned, Takabe and Koppa Onaga fish began to dance on the surface, creating ripples.

Observing the movements of the Takabe fish, I noticed they were swarming around the chum but not feeding on the krill, so I cast my line into the current rip about 30 meters offshore.

However, if you synchronize the bait and chum in the upper layers, you'll have a high chance of catching palm-sized longtail tuna.

Therefore, as a countermeasure against small longtail tuna, the chum is dispersed as soon as it hits the water, creating a smoke screen that drifts in the upper layers to hold the small longtail tuna in place, while the particles contained in Gure Zero and Great Gure sink, creating a slope for the chum.

We were consistently catching black sea bream around 35 centimeters. In search of even bigger fish, we mixed Black Turbo bait into the chum we had been using, increasing its sinking speed and trying to synchronize the chum and bait at a depth of about one rod length.

By casting the chum upstream and the rig downstream, and controlling it to synchronize 50 meters downstream, I was able to catch a series of 45-48 cm sea bream just as planned.
