"Is this the start of the rainy season greenfish? " - Kamikihara

On May 6th, the last day of Golden Week, I was invited by my club friends to go greenfish fishing in Noma with a total of six people.

After a strict draw before departure, I was paired with my junior colleague, Kawagoe-kun, and we loaded our gear.

The situation on that day was

The weather will be mostly sunny.

Medium tide: High tide 8:52, Low tide 15:42

We departed Nomaike Fishing Port a little after 6:00 aboard the Miyomaru.

I had the pleasure of landing on the special shore of Noma, "Mamako."

This time, I used one block of krill, one block of boiled krill, Gure Zero, and GMAX Middle as the base, and added breadcrumbs and rice bran to increase the volume and adjust the consistency.

For bait, I rotated between Raw PRO L, Nama Iki-kun PRO L, boiled shrimp (which I also use as bait in the chum), and pickled shrimp.

I started fishing around 6:50.

I caught a greenfish with the first cast using the Namaiki-kun PRO, so I was relieved that I wouldn't end up with a blank.

I managed to catch four fish easily, but after that, I had a really hard time.

It took me a little over an hour to catch the fifth fish.

The tide was fluctuating wildly, with periods of rising current and slack water even during the ebb tide, and then sudden, strong currents of rising currents. The current seemed to change every few casts, requiring anglers to adapt their fishing techniques.

Nevertheless, once the chum started to take effect and the tide began to move a bit, the sea bream started to respond to the bait, and we entered a period of an explosively good catch.

As the greenfish became more active, they responded very well to boiled bait. Adding boiled bait to the chum is definitely a good idea.

I was able to fully enjoy fishing for greenfish until 13:30 PM, when we packed up our gear, while chatting with Kawagoe-kun about fishing techniques and setups.

When I checked inside the fish keeper, there were 20 fish inside, and Kawagoe-kun also had 20 fish! We both did a great job fishing.

All of my teammates got hits, and we had a really fun last day of Golden Week.

The rainy season has begun in the Amami region of Kagoshima. The rainy season greenfish fishing season is about to begin.
