Kyushu Magurekai Branch Competition in Oseto, Nagasaki Prefecture, Sakawa
On March 1st, we participated in the Kyushu Magurekai branch competition.
Two people from each branch, three greenfish over 25cm.
We decided to do it with the total weight of 6 fish!
The tournament briefing and pairings were held just after 4:00 a.m., and we boarded the Ryusei ferry just after 5:00 a.m. and set sail.

I'm from the Fukuoka branch, and I went to an island called Lowatashi with Nagamatsu-san!
Hoping to return to the same rocky shore where Nagamatsu-san caught a lot of fish yesterday, we talked about fishing until dawn.
As it started to get lighter, we started getting ready. This time, we had already prepared the bait, so all we had to do was add seawater and mix it!
By the way, the bait this time is,
2 blocks of krill
The main ingredient is Great Gure, with half a bag each of Gure Zero and Gure Z added in.
I decided to mix the remaining half bag and use it later.
The rig is
Rod size 1.25
Reel No. 3000
Main line No. 2
Float 00
Trace No. 2
Hook size 7
With everything ready, Nagamatsu headed offshore.
I chose the channel facing Matsushima as my fishing spot, but the rising tide was flowing towards the harbor, and although I cast my rod from a fishing spot on the north side, the headwind from the north to northeast made it difficult to fish, but using every trick in the book I managed to catch about four keeping-sized small greenfish.
After that, I was able to catch some small-sized greenfish ranging from 10cm to 25cm, but I was unable to catch any replacing-sized fish.
During slack tide, there is a feeding frenzy of wrasse in the middle and lower layers.
The upper layer was full of bait-eating copperheads, so the conditions were tough and we decided to call off our break and hope for a good tide.
after that,
"Has the ebb tide begun to turn?"
But to my surprise, there was no flow at all.
After that, I continued to struggle with the tide not flowing, and while I tried fishing from far and near, lowering the line and hook, I enjoyed the best catch of the day, but the fish got stuck to the bottom and I lost it.
After that, I got a few greenfish here and there, but they were all about the same size, and only the cute greenfish was not replaced.
We kept six fish for the time being, and by 13:30pm the bait had run out, so we washed our fishing spot clean and got on the boat to retrieve the fish.
After returning to port, the weigh-in results!
The Nagasaki branch won with a 5.80kg fish!
お め で と う ご ざ い ま す.
The Kokubu branch, which competed with Yamashita, came in 5th place.
Although there are some irregularities in the river and the day,
"I couldn't catch all the fish!"
And it's refreshing to see how little arm I have!
Although the outcome was disappointing, we were able to interact with people from each branch and had a meaningful day.
So, I got a free ticket in the final rock-paper-scissors tournament!
Since the deadline was in September, we gave up this time and played rock-paper-scissors again, and it went to Tsutsumi from the Oita branch!
Thank you to the Nagasaki and Shimabara branches for organizing this tournament.
Thanks also to all the branches who participated.
