Fishing at Hirose Embankment in Kirishima City, in the inner part of Kinko Bay, Sakawa

錦江湾奥、霧島市広瀬堤防での釣り 酒匂

November 29st
After finishing work at 23pm yesterday, I headed for Hirose Embankment in Kirishima City overnight.

Although it's out of season, I'll try to catch horse mackerel at night, red sea bream at dawn, and then black porgy.

I arrived at Hirose breakwater just before 2am and thought, "Should I cast my rod to catch some horse mackerel?"
Or so I thought, but I was tired from work and just wanted to take a little nap, but I fell into a deep sleep and woke up just before 4am!
I hurriedly packed my belongings and prepared the bait at my fishing spot.
My recent staples are krill with Soko-zeme Zudon as the main bait, mixed with Nama-sanagi Kurodai and White Power Seiha Chinu, and Black Turbo Plus II to adjust the hardness.

This time, the bait I prepared was Sashiesa PRO Large, Meccha-Kuu Series Corn, Twin Pack Yellow, and Twin Pack PRO.

While setting up the tackle, I laid some bait, used a No. 0 float, took one hiro of No. 1.75 line, tied a No. 3 hook, and started fishing for horse mackerel with a fully floating rig, but it was starting to get lighter, so after a few casts I gave up on horse mackerel and decided to switch to targeting red sea bream, retiing the line to 2 hiro and changing the float to triple 0.

I scattered a lot of bait and tried to catch something, but there was not even a bite. Time just passed, and finally there was a bite just after 6 o'clock, but all I could easily catch in the dip net was a red sea bream the size of the sole of my foot.

I gently released the main target, which was too small, and aimed for the next one, but the tide was not flowing and the red sea bream did not bite. However, the black porgy started to bend the rod, and I was able to catch three black porgys in a row, all about 40cm long, but they were not the best shape!

After 7 o'clock, Mr.Shinmasu came to take a look, gave me a lot of advice, and we decided to drop the rig and give it a try!

I changed the leader to 1.25 and the hook to 1, and got the best catch of the day!
While enjoying the unique head shaking of the black porgy, I handled it carefully.
Once I managed to get it in the dip net, it turned out to be a 45cm black porgy.
After that, I continued rotating the bait and using dough bait, and caught more and more black porgy in a row!

I had to be home by 9 o'clock, so I handed my fishing rod over to Shinmasu-san just after 8 o'clock and was cleaning up when suddenly, Shinmasu-san bent the rod!

After that, he caught two black porgies in three casts! Impressive!

After cleaning up, we washed our fishing spot clean and left the spot.
