Fishing for largescale blackfish with my fishing buddy Terashita
The weather forecast for the day was calm with little wind, so my fishing buddy, Hirokyu staff member Yamaguchi, and I were taken care of by Ebisu Ferry in Tsubaki, Shirahama Town.
We set sail at 6:40 and the two of us reached Kaddo Island.
The ground bait is Bakutobi and Great Gure, and I adjust the moisture content so that I can cast them far, and keep an eye on the situation from my feet, but the fish seem to be inactive and I can't see any, but I do get a few small long-tailed largescale blackfish bites around the reef a little distance away.
I changed the bait to the L size Namaikikun PRO, which is softer and retains its shape better, and after a long cast I finally caught a good-sized long-tailed largescale blackfish.
I thought that more were about to come, but gradually the tide started to get stronger, the bites became less frequent, and silence continued.
Despite the tough conditions, Yamaguchi bent his rod significantly and caught a huge 70cm parrotfish, as well as several other fish of the same size in succession, including blacktip grouper.

The tide was not slowing down and there was only a little time left until the end of fishing, so we changed our fishing spot.
I aimed for an untouched shallow area just offshore, changed the bait to a slightly smaller M-size Namaikikun PRO, and finally caught a good-sized largescale blackfish, and with the timing being good in the evening, I was able to catch a few more.
Although it was tough, we were able to see some fish, thanks to Bakutobi, Great Gure, and Namaikikun, and had a great time.
