Tajiri's Long-tailed Greenfish shun

田尻の尾長グレ shun

Location: Cape Sata, Tajiri (from Magotaro to Ipponmatsu)

Date and time: February 20 (7:30-15:00)

Neap tide high 10:11 - low tide 16:59

This time, I went to Tajiri at Cape Sata in pursuit of long-tailed greenfish, and was assisted by the ferry boat Tsurumaru.

Due to the strong western wind on this day, I was unable to go to Nishiiso, where there are many successful catches of large-sized long-tailed greenfish...

The rapids I descended to were called Magotaro in the eastern part of the country. The water was shallow, and the rapids were scattered throughout the area.

This would be a good place to directly target the waterways or sunken reefs, or if the tide is ideal.

The ground bait is "Great Gure" that is suitable for all layers from the top to the bottom.

For the attached bait, I used the "L size of Namaikikun forpro", which is easy to peel and has excellent bite!

I started fishing with a size 0 float, 1.7cm line, 1.2cm leader, and size 6 greyre hook.

When I spread the ground bait, I could not see any bait stealers and the tide was hitting the shore.

The retrieved bait was cold and the fish were quite inactive, probably due to the drop in water temperature.

Before I knew it, it was 11 o'clock and I had tried various things and the fish escaped three times.

Just as I finally figured out where to go, the captain said, "Ipponmatsu, a first-class rocky beach, will be open at 12 o'clock."Please tell me

Without any hesitation I said, "Please change course!"

I moved to Ipponmatsu (front) just after 12 o'clock, and since I only had about three hours, I hurriedly got ready.

This is a place where you can target large long-tailed greenfish, so I used use a blend of ``Great Gure #39;' and ``Ikki-ukase Gure'' as bait to aim for the long-tailed greenfish by floating them.

As the attached bait

I used ``Namaikikun for pro 2L'' that matches the size of the hook and ``Namaikikun Half Boil L'' to prevent bait stealers.

There is a large current beneath my feet, sunken reefs offshore, and the tide flows slowly towards Birou Island.

I set up a G2 float, No. 3 line, No. 3 leader, and No. 8 long tail hook and started fishing.

I put a lot of ground bait into the current, imagining a long-tailed greenfish coming up at the end of the current and cast the rig far. I also put about two scoops of ground bait toward the rig I was used to offshore.

As I kept doing this, I got a hit! What came up was a Gurukun.

This fish is often caught while aiming for long-tailed greenfish, so the conditions look good...

While searching the same spot, the float suddenly disappeared and I got a hit!

This time, there was a heavy, satisfying pull! It was a 40cm+ long-tailed greenfish that came up without any trouble.

After this, the bait continued to be taken away, and when I started fishing with a half-boiled bait, I finally got a hit!

I also caught another similar sized one. I still had a lot more I wanted to do, but unfortunately I had to call it a day.

Before I know it, it was time to depart from Ipponmatsu. It really is a great place!

On this day, I was aiming for long-tailed greenfish, but since I wasn't sure if I would actually be able to get down to the longtail area, I prepared a light bait for long-tailed greenfish and a bait that would be suitable for low-lying fish such as big-mouthed greenfish.

In this area, the fishing method is very different between the long-tailed fish area and the large-mouthed fish area, so it's a good idea to prepare bait well in advance. Especially during this time of year when long-tailed and cold-weather greenfish are mixed together...

The big fish will be postponed until next time.
