Largescale blackfish fishing in Koshikijima 3FC Round 3 Kamikihara

On March 2nd, I participated in a tournament held by the club I belong to in Koshikijima (Kashima).

This season, the weather has always been rough on the weekends, making it difficult to go rock fishing...and this was my first time rock fishing since January 5th.

After a strict lottery, I got number 1!

I departed Kushikino Fishing Port at 3:30.

Around 5:30, we arrived at Nishiiso in Nakakoshiki, commonly known as Kashima, in the Koshikijima Islands.

The first rapids we were dropped off at were called "Toudashita Taka"!

This is a first-class rocky shore for long-tailed greenfish. Even before we crossed the shallows, the porter said to me, "Today is the day of victory," and my expectations were raised!

In a rare move, I won a game of rock-paper-scissors to decide my fishing spot with a senior from the same reef, and set up my fishing spot near the boat landing and went squid fishing before dawn, but as expected I didn't catch anything.

I started fishing for greenfish at 6:30. (Because it was a tournament, we couldn't do anything like night fishing.)

This time, I used one bag each of GREAT GURE, GMAX, and GREZERO for two blocks of krill.

The bait used was Raw PRO L and pickled shelled shrimp.

First throw.

The float will go down with a bang as the water flows from left to right a little earlier than the fishing spot.

It was a rapids, so even though I used a size 8 hook, it got swallowed and the tip broke off...

I'm not sure if it was because I chose the bait this time to be effective evenly from the top layer, or if it was because there were a lot of fish, but there were a lot of bites from early on.

I cast the bait upstream and dropped the bait an hour later. After letting it flow about 20m, I got a first bite, and if I continued to pull it lightly and tempt the fish, it would run at full speed.

However, roots are sticking out of the water where my rig is flowing, so the key is how to avoid them.

The process of catching and getting cut was repeated monotonously.

The moment the float disappeared, it didn't get on the rod and the tip broke.

They didn't care even if I used a size 8 hook, and they bit the bait.

Although I didn't catch a giant long-tailed greenfish, it was still fun!!

I mainly used krill as bait, but sometimes I used peeled bait to vary the speed at which the bait sank, and I was able to catch some big-mouthed greenfish. The fish responded to my changes, so it was a lot of fun fishing.

In the first half, we caught eight fish, including a 44cm long-tailed greenfish.

The bites started to get less frequent before we changed fishing spots, and we only caught two fish in the second half, so we called it a day with 10 fish in total.

My senior at the same reef was catching just as many sea bream.

After returning to Kushikino Fishing Port and weighed the fish, I came in fourth place.

Although I managed to bring up a 50cm long-tailed greenfish, the hook came off just before I put it in the dip net, and it was a crushing defeat...

Still, fishing on the rocks for the first time in a while and talking about fishing with friends was the best way to relieve stress. I had a very enjoyable time.

It's almost greenfish season on Koshikijima.
