On March 22nd, I went fishing at Nagahama Fishing Port in Kirishima City in search of ageless black porgy.
I started fishing at 7am, but the bait was still left behind. What's more, the bait was cold... Under these conditions, after an hour and a half, I finally got my first hit. The line was slowly carried away and I got a bite. The fish ran further and further out to sea, making it fun to pull. It was a 40cm black porgy that ended up in the dip net. It was a decent size for my first fish.
I thought the catch will be successive, but I couldn't get a pick for a while.
As I was doing this, a western wind started to blow sideways, making it difficult to fish. However, even under these conditions, I was able to target the Makie at a point about 30m offshore.
I mended the line so that it wouldn't be blown away by the wind. Then, I felt a slight tug on the line, but the fish didn't run away. I held the line taut and waited for a while, and then I felt a bite on the rod. It was small, but I was relieved to finally catch my second fish.
This time, the water temperature was low at around 16 degrees, so I struggled, but I think the conditions will improve as the cherry blossoms bloom. Next time, I would like to try again in search of an ageless black porgy.
