Aichokai Black Porgy Fishing Tournament Sakawa

愛釣海 チヌ釣り大会 酒匂

April 4
I participated in the black porgy fishing tournament held by Aichokai, which I belong to.
This time, everyone is free to choose their own fishing spot.
As long as you make it to the weigh-in area at 2pm you'll be OK.
We decided to compete over the weight of the three black porgy fish!

Since I have not yet decided the weather on the day or the fishing location, I considered all kinds of locations.
As I had personal business and was planning to return home late the day before, I mixed together two bags of krill and Sokozeme Zudon, half bags each of Namasanagi Kurodai and White Power Seiha Chinu the day before and stored them in the refrigerator.
On the day, I decided to adjust the hardness by mixing Black Turbo Plus II at the fishing spot.

The bait I prepared were Sashiesa PRO L size, Meccha-kuu series, corn, Twin Pack Yellow, and Twin Pack PRO.

On the day, it was forecast to rain until the morning, followed by a westerly wind, so wanting to avoid the westerly wind as much as possible, I headed to the rocky shore below Route 10 in Nokumita, Hayato-cho, Kirishima City to cast my rod.

I left after 5 o'clock, but it started to rain lightly so I waited in the car for a while.
I met up with Tokuyoshi after 7 o'clock and headed to the fishing spot.
Once I decided on my fishing spot, I started preparing my bait.

After preparing the bait, I decided to set up a spot just in front of the seaweed bed offshore, where I spread about 20 cups of chum and then spread some more while preparing my fishing gear.
I used a size 0 float, size 1.5 line, and size 2 hooks, and started fishing with a full luring rig.

I had brought several different types of bait with me, so I planned to rotate them and see what would happen, but I got a bite on the first cast!
The seabed is dotted with boulders, so rather than standing the rod upright, I tried to keep the rod slightly horizontal, trying to make the fish swim over the boulders as much as possible and draw it in. Finally, I saw the fish close by, so I kept my eye on the boulders in front of me and fought the fish carefully, and I caught a silver-scaled black porgy safely in the dip net!
I got off to a good start by catching a black porgy, so I was relieved for the time being.
The tide flows to the right, from Hayato to Kajiki.

After that, there was another bite, and the line went taut and when I applied a little tension, the fish came on the rod.
As before, I laid the rod down and enjoyed the fish's jerking and head-shaking motion, which seemed to be that of a black porgy, while carefully fighting it.
I was able to safely catch my second black porgy of the day, a black porgy that was over 40cm long.
After that, I continued rotating the bait and was using dough bait, when the line suddenly became taut and I set the hook, but it was too early and the fish slipped away.
I regained my composure and continued to cast the rod, and after a few casts, I got a bite that snatched the rod.
As soon as I caught my third fish, which was my limit for the day, I called over Tokuyoshi, who was fishing on the left, and had him fish from the right side of my fishing spot.
After a few casts, Tokuyoshi bent his rod and caught a beautiful red sea bream over 30cm in the dip net.
"It's not this fish."
And gently released it.

After that, he caught a bite, bent his rod sharply, and while giving some advice to Tokuyoshi who was still fighting the fish, he successfully caught a black porgy that was over 40cm long!

After 9 o'clock, the tide went out and the rocks at our feet came out, making it difficult to fish. Tokuyoshi said,
"Why don't we go to Hirose?"
So, we moved the location!
We arrived at Hirose Embankment, but the west wind was stronger than expected and the conditions were tough!
The two of us decided to cast our rods at the end of the embankment.

I had already reached my limit, so we got ready and started fishing, hoping that Tokuyoshi would catch as many fish as possible.
Despite the occasional gusts of wind, I continued to swing the rod for several minutes and the line was soon pulled tight.
With a little effort, the fish took the lead.
With the influence of the wind, I felt the heavy pull of the fish and was able to catch my fourth black porgy of the day.
After that, with no bites, my float got snagged and I lost it, and my motivation and the bait had run out, so I washed off the dirty fishing spot and called it a day.

Only about half of the people brought their fish to be weighed, and the conditions were tough at every fishing spot.

As a result of the measurements, I caught three fish and weighed 3kg, which meant I won the championship and received prize money and shochu.
2nd place: Hanadou
3rd place Tokuyoshi
4th place: Shinnosuke
was the result.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the fishing tournament.
