In late June, I had the opportunity to participate in a Hiroshima Bay fukase fishing social gathering hosted by some of my seniors who are active in Hiroshima Prefecture.

We had planned to go to offshore rocks, but due to bad weather we had to change our plans at the last minute and go to nearby offshore piers and rocks in the bay.
Strong winds forced the other participants to cross to the offshore pier, but I really wanted to fish on the rocks, so I was guided to a spot where I could shelter from the wind.

The place where we landed was the "Slippery point" of Ninoshima Island. I personally love this rocky shoreline and it's a popular spot where you can catch black porgy all year round.

This time, in addition to the fish attractant for black porgy, I mixed in Seiha Madai.
Seiha Madai contains a lot of ingredients with large particles that appeal to fish.
In addition, I also prepared some boiled krill for scattering. It is extremely effective on floating fish.

We started fishing at 6am, but the wind and current were going in the same direction, making it difficult to get our fishing gear to work as we had hoped.

I managed to catch two fish using a two-stage rig with a No. 1 underwater float, but I was unable to get into good rhythm and it was already 2 o'clock, time for the tide to turn, and I was already halfway there.

Then, around 10 o'clock, as the tide began to flow steadily, we started getting bites one after another, as if all our hard work had paid off.

Each cast yielded one fish, and all of them were over 40 centimeters in size.
They also began to react to the boiled krill that we had scattered, and several black porgy were picking them up hungrily right at my feet.
Not wanting to miss this chance, I continued to cast the bait and boiled krill consistently, and by the time I finished fishing, I had caught over 20 black porgy.

This time's best baits are Boiled krill and Idaten Krill Yellow.
These two became the main baits as I focused on making them stand out and getting the black porgy to bite quickly.

Although the rainy season has arrived in Hiroshima Bay, fishing seems to be good both at the offshore pier and on the rocks, with many black porgy being caught.

There is a lot to learn and try in the fishing conditions, and plenty to have fun with, so please come to Hiroshima Bay.
