Cold largescale blackfish Shore Fishing Kamikihara
On December 8th, I was invited by a junior colleague to go sea bream fishing.
This will be my first time fishing at Shirahama in Aira City, Kagoshima, where I will be doing shore fishing on the boulders.
This time I used one corner of a krill, half a corner of a shrimp, and two bags of GREAT GURE, which was newly released this fall.
Although the spot was supposed to be sheltered from the wind, the wind started to pick up due to a strong wind, which made it very difficult.
For some reason, the conditions were close to a northeasterly headwind.
My junior suggested that we have a competition since we were going fishing together, and we started fishing, competing for the total weight of five fish.
The usual fishing pattern here seems to be to target the break about 30m away from the fishing spot directly, using a rod float to catch small bites and then reeling the bait in to shallow waters without giving the fish the upper hand.
However, since the rod float is directly exposed to the wind, it was very difficult to synchronize the ground bait and the attached bait.
Still, by 10 o'clock I had managed to catch five fish, mainly small ones, and I'm aiming to catch bigger ones from now.
However, the rod float kept getting caught in the wind and quickly got separated from the ground bait, so I took a gamble and changed to a cone float.
I tried to hook the bait with small bites and kept in mind not to let the bait sink into the break, but my line was cut eight times that day.
Fortunately, there was a headwind so we were able to retrieve all the floats.
The GREAT GURE has excellent long-distance casting ability, so headwinds are not a problem at all, and even when you throw the ground bait into a headwind, it will land right at the target without scattering.
And when I synchronized the ground bait and the attatched bait, I caught a lot of largescale blackfish.
On this day, we caught a variety of fish, including 12 sea bream, 4 black porgy (and frog flounder), wrasse, red spotted grouper, and scorpion fish, with the maximum size being 33cm.

I feel relieved that I won the match against my junior.
I headed home with the steamed meat bun in my mouth.
GREAT GURE is not only fish-attracting and appealing, but also has great long-distance casting ability. Please try it out when there is a strong wind or when fishing at a distant spot. (When using for long-distance casting, mix with less seawater. It will mix well.)
It does a good job.
