Early autumn Black sea bream fishing Kamikihara

初秋のチヌ釣り 上木原

On October 12th, a tournament we were looking forward to was canceled due to an approaching typhoon, but we decided that with a small group we could find a spot sheltered from the wind and go fishing, so three of us and a friend went fishing for the first time to Ikumi Fishing Port in Kiire, Kagoshima City.

There was still a slight breeze in the morning, but being sheltered from the wind, it felt quite pleasant. However, once the wind died down around 9am, it became extremely hot and we had to fight the heat. (On that day, Kagoshima recorded the latest ever record of a day of extreme heat in Japan.)

Well, on this day, we'll be using one block of krill and Sokozeme! Zudon, Nama-sanagi Kurodai, Chinu-ten, Chinu-dango barley.

Since I assumed the area would be full of pufferfish, I brought less krill.

For bait, I prepared raw krill and corn from the ``Meccha-kuu'' series.

We started fishing around 6 o'clock, but we couldn't find any black porgy and were constantly being toyed with by Japanese silver-biddy and silver sea bream.

I wasn't able to catch any black porgy until 9 o'clock, but my junior had already caught three black porgy.

My junior colleague was fishing downstream, but I was shocked to see how much of a difference there was. He buttered me up that if I didn't catch anything, I would be fined 1000 yen, so I fished patiently.

Everyone else was using lures with buoyancy levels of 00 or 000 to fish at the bottom, but I decided to use a rod float to find the right depth. The water was shallow, about 3m deep, but I decided to find the right depth, and it paid off.

The tide changed from high tide around 10 o'clock, and I was now on the downstream side, so my chance came.

Starting with the black porgy biting the Meccha-kuu corn, when the reaction against the dough bait became poor, I switched the bait to krill, and when the reaction against krill became poor, I switched the bait to dough bait.

We managed to catch a few black porgy here and there among the mainly large silver sea bream, and by 12 o'clock we had caught our limit of three fish (actually we caught four) and it was time to compete for weight!

I managed to win with a score of 3690g to 3265g, saving my face as a senior.

My fishing buddy Y, who was sandwiched between me and my junior, felt a bit at a disadvantage in terms of fishing position. He didn't get a blank, but he couldn't get three fish.

However, on the way home I was treated to sweets to celebrate the winner.

There were a lot of pufferfish in the port, but I was able to avoid them with some good bait work and some black porgy showed up, which was fun.

Long-distance casting ability is a must for ground bait used in black porgy fishing.

I recommend Hirokyu's fish attractant.
