Late April, I went fishing for Greenfish at Nozaki Island in Kamigotō. I had planned to go fishing for long-tailed greenfish, which is now in its best season, but the swell from the previous day was still there, so I gave up on the planned offshore rocks and changed my fishing spot to Nozaki Island.
Ichinose, located at the southern tip of Nozaki Island, is also a good spot to target long-tailed greenfish, but on this day many lure fishing customers were on the reef, so we cast our rods at a point 1km north of Ichinose, with greenfish as our main target.
Equipped with a 1.6-size rod, 1.75-size line, and 1.75-size leader, I tried casting my bait at dawn at a point offshore with good tide flow while scattering bait at my feet. However, even after several casts along the same course there was no reaction from the greenfish, so I next tried aiming two rods away and caught a 30-35cm black porgy in a water of two to three rods length deep.
The hit bait is Namaiki-kun PRO
This is the number one bait item that you should definitely have with you all year round.
Occasionally, there was a vague reaction from a good-sized greenfish suppressing the float, so I fixed the line at 2 rods length and caught a slight bite, which felt heavy. I smiled with joy as I caught a 48cm black porgy in the dip net, and then, as the tide started to go out, I set up my fishing spot at the tip of the rocks and cast the ground bait over a wide area, and fought back when the float disappeared with a bite. Unfortunately, the hook came off, and as I continued to cast the bait again, trying not to run out of bait, I again got a bite from the float disappearing, and I concentrated on it, hoping that this time it would be the one, but it wasn't as strong as before and what floated up was a 55cm red sea bream.

After that, I caught enough small greenfish to keep myself from getting bored, and when the tide was moving I added three more horse mackerel using half-boiled bait, and called it a day at 3 p.m.
Due to various circumstances, I had not been able to go fishing for about two months, which had been frustrating for me, but I was able to catch enough fish to keep me from getting bored, and I was able to enjoy fishing for the first time in a while.
The greenfish will calm down for now, but we can expect good catches again as the rainy season approaches, so please go out fishing and be sure to practice safety.
