"Black porgy fishing at the rocky shore under the national highway in Kirishima city" Hanadou
On October 19th, I went to a rocky shore under the national highway in Kirishima City to catch black porgy. Cool air was flowing in from the north, and the lingering heat that had continued into October eased, making it possible to feel autumn approaching.
This area doesn't have much depth even at high tide, so we aim for the highest tide just before and after high tide. Because it's shallow from your feet, you'll need to cast far. The three bags this time are packed with long-distance fishing gear, smoke screens, and ingredients, so you can hold off black porgy at offshore points.
On this day, sunrise and high tide coincided, so I scattered bait before sunrise to prepare a good spot.
The sky is gradually turning whiter, and I'm finally in the golden time of dawn. As a prayer, I eat some King Chocolate from a local bakery, and get fired up to aim for King Black Porgy!
Once I was able to see the float, I started fishing just after 6am. On the first and second casts, I gave some raw krill to the bait-eaters. On the third cast, a pufferfish took the hook away. There were a lot of bait-eating fish active in the sea.
So I attached a peeled Namaiki-kun bait and waited a little while for the rig to settle before casting the ground bait. I also scattered ground bait around my feet for the bait-eaters to catch.
I caught a frog flounder with the size of my palm. I continued to aim in the same way, hoping that a king black porgy would come. As I rotated between meat and kneaded bait, I started to get hits by black porgy in the 40cm class, which was fun to watch. The black porgy in shallow waters were running energetically.
Occasionally I even caught a 35cm greenfish, which made me feel the change of seasons.
As the tide gradually began to drop, the activity of the bait-eaters and black porgy decreased, and the bait began to remain, so I decided to call it a day at 8:00, two hours after high tide.
Although I didn't encounter any king black porgy, the trip gave me the idea that it might be fun to target greenfish specifically, and I would like to return here again.
